When you bury negative feelings, they never die. Instead, they act as planted seeds, developing roots, extending and growing. Until they reach the surface. And you have an outburst or feel the negative emotional reaction even more deeply. These negative feelings, when buried, resurface through your attitude, your relationship, and your responses. Like weeds, they overshadow and choke out your passions, your dreams, and your joy. You wonder why certain situations affect you so much worse than you think they should. It doesn't feel logical to be that upset by that situation. You don't want to be affected like this. But have you actually dealt with the root of the issue and pulled the weed? Or are you just cutting the stems back to grass level so nobody can tell that the issue, the insecurity, the depression or anxiety, the addiction, the whatever is still there?
True freedom takes work. And the good news is, you don't have to keep living with it. You can do something about it! You can get stronger! You don't have to live with the guilt and shame and pain. You may be damaged, but you can still forgive them for what they've done, not because they deserve it, but because you deserve freedom from it. Let go of the disappointments. Let go of the dreams that never happened (and were not God-given)
You can't keep that toxicity bottled up and expect to still reach your goals, achieve your dreams, and live in the fullness of your purpose. It's too heavy. Lay it down
